For the 8th and subsequent housing element revisions, the Department of Housing and Community Development must convene and engage stakeholders (including demographers, data experts, and councils of governments) to consider improvements to the process of determining regional housing needs before making any determinations.

The department must publish on its website the data sources, analyses, methodology, assumptions, and factors used in population projections and the engagement process with councils of governments prior to finalizing regional determinations.

The department must publish its determinations regarding data assumptions and methodology for calculating regional housing needs on its website.

The bill removes previous requirements for an advisory panel to assist with assumptions and methodology for the 7th and subsequent housing element revisions.
