Extends the deadline for initial inspection of exterior elevated elements (balconies, decks, porches, etc.) in multifamily buildings with 3 or more units from January 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026.

Properties inspected within 3 years prior to January 1, 2019 and found to be in proper working condition are not required to be re-inspected until January 1, 2026 (previously January 1, 2025).

Inspections must be conducted every 6 years thereafter by licensed architects, engineers, contractors with 5+ years' experience, or certified building inspectors.

Building owners are responsible for correcting defects found during inspections and must obtain permits within 120 days; repairs must be completed within 120 days of permit approval or face civil penalties of $100-$500 per day.
