Establishes the California Golden Chanterelle (Cantharellus californicus) as the official state mushroom of California.

Recognizes mushrooms as important organisms that sustain life through symbiotic connections with plants, decomposition of dead wood, groundwater improvement, and carbon storage in soil.

Notes that Cantharellus californicus is a commonly collected edible mushroom found beneath California oak trees and was recently recognized as a unique endemic species.

Intends to promote appreciation, education, and study of mushrooms in California through official recognition.

Approved by the Governor and filed with the Secretary of State on October 10, 2023.
