Fair Political Practices Commission, in consultation with the Attorney General, must create, maintain, and make available an ethics training course for local agency officials.

All local agency officials must receive at least two hours of training in general ethics principles and ethics laws relevant to their public service every two years.

Training requirement applies to all local agency officials if the local agency provides compensation, salary, stipend, or expense reimbursement to legislative body members, or if officials are members of school district governing boards, county boards of education, or charter school governing bodies.

Other entities may develop ethics training curricula but must consult with the Fair Political Practices Commission and Attorney General regarding course content sufficiency and accuracy.

Local agencies or associations of local agencies may offer training courses, self-study materials with tests, or online options, and must provide participants with proof of participation.
