Department of Social Services must collect and report data beginning May 1, 2026, and annually thereafter to county departments of mental health or behavioral health regarding licensed adult residential facilities and residential care facilities for the elderly that accept federal supplemental security rates and serve residents with serious mental illness.

Reports must include the total number of residents occupying beds who are public benefits recipients or persons with serious mental illness, including those receiving regional center funding or with previous histories of homelessness, incarceration, or institutionalization.

Department must post all required reports on its internet website for public access.

Data collection and reporting requirements expire on January 1, 2029, at which time the relevant sections are repealed.

No state reimbursement is required for local agencies or school districts because any costs result from creation of new crimes under existing community care facilities law.
