Requires science instruction in grades 1-6 to emphasize the causes and effects of climate change and methods to mitigate and adapt to climate change, with appropriate coursework offered no later than the 2024-25 school year.

Requires science courses in grades 7-12 to include emphasis on the causes and effects of climate change and methods to mitigate and adapt to climate change, with appropriate coursework offered no later than the 2024-25 school year.

Designates the bill as imposing a state-mandated local program on school districts.

Provides that if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill contains state-mandated costs, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to existing statutory procedures under Government Code Part 7.

Coordinates with Assembly Bill 446 and Senate Bill 509 to avoid conflicting amendments to grade 1-6 science instruction requirements.
