Allows the statute of limitations for fleeing the scene of an accident causing death or permanent, serious injury to be tolled for up to 3 years if the person is out of state for the purpose of evading prosecution.

Criminal complaints for these hit-and-run offenses can be filed within the time period in Section 801 or 802, or one year after law enforcement initially identifies the suspect, whichever is later, but no later than 6 years after the offense.

Applies to violations of Vehicle Code Section 20001(b)(2) involving accidents that caused death or permanent, serious injury.
