County clerks and the Office of Planning and Research must maintain environmental document records electronically and may maintain them on paper (previously required both electronic and paper formats).

Filing fees for environmental document review remain unchanged at $1,800 for negative declarations and $2,500 for environmental impact reports.

County clerks may charge an additional $50 documentary handling fee per filing.

Environmental document records must include applicant/lead agency name, filing number, project name, and filing date, available for department audit during business hours.

Monthly remittance of filing fees to the department is required within 30 days, with a 10 percent penalty assessed for late payments.
