Exempts public schools operated by Indian tribes or tribal organizations from the prohibition on using the term "Redskins" as a school or athletic team name, mascot, or nickname.

Beginning July 1, 2026, prohibits all public schools (except those operated by Indian tribes or tribal organizations) from using any derogatory Native American term including Apaches, Braves, Chiefs, Indians, Savages, Squaw, and Tribe as school or athletic team names, mascots, or nicknames.

Allows schools to continue using uniforms and materials purchased before July 1, 2026 bearing prohibited terms, with restrictions on purchasing new materials and a limited exception permitting purchase of replacement uniforms equal to up to 20 percent of inventory before January 1, 2028.

Permits schools to use prohibited terms if they receive written consent from a local federally recognized tribe.

Applies Uniform Complaint Procedures to complaints regarding school or athletic team names, mascots, or nicknames, and exempts community colleges and University of California campuses from these requirements.
