Amends Family Code Section 6306 to require courts to search the Department of Justice Automated Firearms System to determine if subjects of proposed domestic violence protective orders own or possess firearms.

Extends the firearm search requirement to all courts, removing the prior limitation that restricted implementation to courts with available resources or only to the extent funds were appropriated.

Requires courts to make a written record of whether the subject has relinquished firearms and provided proof of required storage, sale, or relinquishment, with law enforcement notification if compliance is not demonstrated.

Repeals Section 4 of Chapter 765 of the Statutes of 2012, which had conditioned the firearm search requirement on a Judicial Council study and specific budget appropriations that never occurred.

Directs sheriffs to conduct firearm searches through the California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System and report results to courts that lack direct electronic access to the Department of Justice Automated Firearms System.
