Creates exemption from California's assault weapon prohibition allowing loan of assault weapons to peace officer trainees enrolled in Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training courses while engaged in firearms training under instructor supervision

Requires loaned assault weapon to remain at the training facility and not leave the premises

Limits exemption to enrollees who have met minimum peace officer hiring standards under Government Code Sections 1029, 1030, and 1031 and are currently employed by police departments, sheriff's offices, marshal's offices, Department of Justice, California Highway Patrol, or Department of Fish and Wildlife
