Department of Forestry and Fire Protection must modify its training program for inmate firefighters in the California Conservation Camp program by January 1, 2026 to offer certifications including L-180 Human Factors, S-130 Wildland Fire Safety Training, S-190 Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior, Public Safety First Aid, Fire Protection Orientation, S-212 Wildland Fire Chainsaws, Confined Space Awareness, and Fire Fighter 1B: HazMat Certificate.

Department must update its application process for permanent Type 1 Hand Crew positions starting January 1, 2027 to recognize certifications earned by formerly incarcerated individuals through the California Conservation Camp program.

Department must establish rules providing eligibility priority rankings in the application, interview, and hiring process for formerly incarcerated individuals who earned certifications through the California Conservation Camp program.
