Requires public water systems affected by wildfires of 300 acres or more that damaged or destroyed structures connected to the distribution system to test source waters, treatment facilities, conveyance facilities, and distribution systems for benzene as soon as it is safe to do so.

Authorizes the State Water Resources Control Board to require public water systems that detect benzene to conduct additional investigations and testing in consultation with the board, including specified timelines, frequency, duration, and locations.

Permits the board to require water systems to implement remediation measures such as flushing, taking sources offline, repairs, and replacements if contamination is confirmed.

Requires water systems to provide notice to affected customers upon finding contamination, with the board determining the form, content, and timing of notifications.

Does not limit the State Water Resources Control Board's authority under any other existing law.
