Contracting local educational agencies and charter schools must notify parents within 14 days of learning about any change in certification status of nonpublic, nonsectarian schools or agencies serving their pupils.

Notifications must be sent via email or regular mail and include a copy of procedural safeguards outlined in Education Code Chapter 5.

Local educational agencies and charter schools must maintain records of all notices sent and make them available for inspection by the State Department of Education upon request.

Changes in certification status triggering notification requirements include suspensions or revocations of certification, including those resulting from investigations into pupil restraint or seclusion practices.
