Expands the exemption from workers' compensation death benefit limitations to include state safety members, peace officers, and firefighters for the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection who are members of Bargaining Unit 8 of the Public Employees' Retirement System.

Applies the exemption retroactively to January 1, 2019, for injuries not previously claimed or resolved.

Maintains existing burial expense coverage of up to $1,000 for all covered employees.

Preserves existing exemptions for local safety members and patrol members previously established under the law.
