Extends the sunset date for legal document assistant and unlawful detainer assistant regulations from January 1, 2024 to January 1, 2030

Maintains county clerk registration requirements for legal document assistants and unlawful detainer assistants in their principal place of business and branch office locations

Continues existing misdemeanor penalties for persons who engage in unlawful detainer assistant or legal document assistant activities without complying with regulatory requirements

Exempts the state from reimbursement obligations to local agencies for costs related to new crimes, eliminated crimes, or penalty changes under Article XIII B of the California Constitution

Preserves the right of the Commission on State Mandates to determine if other state-mandated costs exist, which would require reimbursement through standard Government Code procedures
