Requires the State Department of Social Services to seek all available federal waivers and approvals to allow CalFresh recipients to purchase hot and prepared foods ready for immediate consumption.

Establishes legislative intent to maximize food access and choices for CalFresh recipients, particularly those facing barriers such as lack of kitchen facilities or special dietary needs.

Authorizes the department to pursue federal waivers under Section 3(k) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 to expand eligible food purchases beyond traditional grocery items.

Approved by Governor on July 27, 2023, and effective immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
