Superintendent of Public Instruction must survey teacher librarians, principals, and technology directors by January 1, 2025 to assess how they integrate digital citizenship and media literacy into curriculum.

Superintendent must convene an advisory committee with a majority of certificated teacher librarians and classroom teachers to develop best practices and recommendations for instruction in digital citizenship and media literacy.

Superintendent must submit a report to the Legislature by January 1, 2026 on strategies to implement the identified best practices and recommendations statewide.

Advisory committee recommendations may include revisions to state content standards, curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, model policies and procedures, and professional development strategies for educators.

Advisory committee must include representatives from county superintendents, school district governing boards, digital literacy experts, and stakeholders such as students, parents, and school administrators.
