Prohibits individuals from using the title "athletic trainer," "certified athletic trainer," "licensed athletic trainer," "registered athletic trainer," or abbreviations such as "AT," "ATC," "LAT," or "CAT" unless they graduate from an accredited athletic training education program and are certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.

Classifies the unauthorized use of athletic trainer titles as an unfair business practice under California law.

Prevents individuals from holding themselves out as athletic trainers if they have been convicted of certain sex offenses (as defined in Penal Code Section 290) or have a disciplined, restricted, or pending disciplinary athletic trainer license or registration in another state.

Exempts individuals covered by collective bargaining agreements from these requirements until the agreement is renewed, at which point they must comply or change their title.

Protects employees whose titles are changed to comply with this section from losing employment status, pay, benefits, seniority, or other compensation related to their position.
