Board of Environmental Safety must contract with an entity having expertise in remediating contaminated sites to review the Department of Toxic Substances Control's residential cleanup near the former Exide Technologies facility in Vernon.

Contractor shall use only existing data in its review, but may take, review, and analyze limited samples if necessary.

Contractor must meet with community members near the former Exide facility to hear comments and concerns about the residential cleanup.

Contractor must provide findings to the board no later than January 1, 2027, with findings posted on the board's internet website.

Legislature finds that a special statute is necessary for this cleanup due to the unique challenges of the former Exide Technologies facility in Vernon.
