Recognizes the 3rd week of May 2024 as Peer Appreciation Week in California during National Mental Health Awareness Month.

Acknowledges Senate Bill 803 (2020) which established the peer support specialist certification program and Medi-Cal certification for peer support workers.

Recognizes peer support specialists as trained providers who use lived experience to support individuals with mental health, addiction, or trauma challenges based on recovery principles.

Notes peer support is cost-effective, reduces inpatient hospital days and recidivism rates, and helps address California's behavioral health workforce shortages.

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit copies of the resolution to the author for distribution.
