Recognizes approximately 90,000 emergency medical services personnel in California and over 1,000,000 nationwide who provide 24/7 life-saving care.

Acknowledges that emergency medical services teams respond to approximately 6,400,000 calls annually in California and 40,000,000 nationally.

Marks the 50th anniversary of National Emergency Medical Services Week, first proclaimed by President Gerald Ford in November 1974, with the 2024 theme "Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future."

Honors the dedication, training, and sacrifices of emergency medical services personnel including physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, and administrators.
