Acknowledges California experienced 14 declared emergencies in the past year, including rainstorms, wildfires, windstorms, and heat waves, resulting in hundreds of thousands of mandatory evacuations.

Encourages Californians to develop emergency preparedness plans including adequate shelter, food and water reserves, backup power for communication devices, pet plans, and transportation access.

Urges Californians to recognize the importance of advance emergency planning to protect themselves and their families from natural disasters and man-made emergencies.
