Proclaims August 8, 2024, as Coastal Stewardship Day in California to recognize the importance of the state's coastline to its economy, communities, and identity.

Acknowledges California's 3,427 miles of coastline supports 68 percent of the state's population and generates billions of dollars annually through tourism, fishing, and coastal employment.

Recognizes the coast as critical habitat for 34 marine mammal species, over 180 seabird and shorebird species, and migratory animals including sharks, fish, turtles, and whales.

Notes California has lost 90 percent of its coastal wetlands, which provide flood protection, improve water quality, and sequester carbon dioxide to mitigate climate change impacts.

Directs the Chief Clerk of the Assembly to transmit copies of the resolution to the author for distribution.
