Health facilities and clinics must meet with nursing schools or programs upon request to discuss clinical placement needs and work in good faith to meet those needs.

Nursing schools and programs must annually prepare and submit a standardized report to the Board of Registered Nursing detailing clinical slots needed by academic term, content area, education level, and unfilled slots from the preceding year.

Health facilities and clinics must annually prepare and submit a standardized report to the Department of Health Care Access and Information listing estimated and actual days and shifts available for student placements by patient population served (geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental health, obstetrics, pediatrics).

The Board of Registered Nursing may assist nursing schools and programs in identifying available clinical placement slot opportunities by conferring with health facilities and clinics in appropriate geographic regions, and must report on all requests and assistance provided.

Attempts to identify additional clinical placement slots cannot disrupt or supplant existing clinical placements that are already in progress, scheduled, or under agreement for future use by any approved nursing school or program.
