CA SB1175

Requires the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery to revise regulations governing low-population and elevation waivers for organic waste collection requirements by the first regulation revision after January 1, 2025.

Mandates that when reviewing waiver applications, the department must consider alternatives to census tracts for determining geographic boundaries, including: boundaries submitted by counties/cities/public agencies, incorporated city boundaries, and census-designated place boundaries.

Prohibits the department from using these alternative geographic boundaries in waiver decisions until it has adopted the revised regulations.
