California State University, Long Beach, in consultation with other public higher education institutions, shall establish the Artificial Intelligence and Deepfake Working Group.

CSU Long Beach may develop a scoping plan in the first year to determine topics for evaluation and stakeholders to include, addressing AI and deepfake impacts on government, business, education, workforce, elections, and privacy.

The working group shall include at least one representative each from 10 specified interests: workforce affected by AI, labor unions, non-tech industries, legal community, privacy organizations, consumer protection, technology industry, education, election experts, and ethicists.

The working group shall also include the Secretary of Government Operations, Executive Director of the California Privacy Protection Agency, and Secretary of State, or their designees.

The working group must submit a report to the Legislature by January 1, 2026, and annually thereafter, detailing research and findings on AI and deepfake issues, with reports made publicly available and subject to the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act.
