Superintendent of Public Instruction must convene a working group to develop guidance and policies on safe artificial intelligence use in public schools, with at least half the members being current credentialed teachers.

Working group must develop guidance by January 1, 2026 addressing academic integrity, acceptable uses, data privacy, parent access, and software procurement for artificial intelligence in education.

Working group must develop a model policy by July 1, 2026 for school districts and charter schools covering artificial intelligence use, data security, equity considerations, and professional development for educators.

Working group must conduct at least three public meetings to gather feedback from pupils, families, and stakeholders on current and future artificial intelligence use in education.

Working group must submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature by January 1, 2027, then dissolve; the working group and these requirements expire January 1, 2031.
