CA SB1350

Amends the California Labor Code definition of "employment" to include household domestic service performed on a permanent or temporary basis, effective July 1, 2025.

Excludes from coverage: publicly funded household domestic service, family daycare homes, and individuals who privately employ domestic workers in their own residences for ordinary household tasks like housecleaning, cooking, and caregiving.

Expands application of occupational safety and health laws and criminal penalties to household domestic service employers who fall outside the specified exclusions.

Clarifies that changes do not modify application of existing sections 6310, 6311, 6311.5 of Labor Code and sections 3342 and 5199 of California Code of Regulations.

Exempts the state from reimbursing local agencies and school districts for costs under Article XIII B of the California Constitution because the bill creates new criminal provisions.
