Beginning April 1, 2025, menstruating persons aged 10-55 qualified for CalWORKs aid are entitled to $20 per month for menstrual product costs, with the maximum family allowance calculated by multiplying $20 by the number of eligible recipients.

The State Department of Social Services must work with the County Welfare Directors Association of California and CalSAWS to develop and implement necessary system changes by April 1, 2025.

No state appropriation under Section 15200 of the Welfare and Institutions Code shall be made for implementing this act.

If the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill creates state-mandated local program costs, reimbursement to local agencies shall be made pursuant to Part 7 of Division 4 of Title 2 of the Government Code.

This bill imposes a state-mandated local program by increasing the duties of counties administering CalWORKs.
