Prohibits housing providers from using a person's credit history in rental applications when there is a government rent subsidy unless the applicant is offered the option to provide alternative evidence of ability to pay rent.

Allows applicants to submit lawful, verifiable alternative evidence such as government benefit payments, pay records, and bank statements instead of credit history.

Requires housing providers to give applicants reasonable time to submit alternative evidence and to reasonably consider that evidence in place of credit history when making rental decisions.

Does not prevent housing providers from requesting employment verification, landlord references, or identity verification.

Applies only to rental situations where a government rent subsidy is involved.
