CA SB350

Increases excused absence allowance for attending funeral services or grieving death of immediate family members from 1-3 days to 5 days per incident.

Adds new category of excused absences up to 3 days for accessing victim services, grief support services, or participating in safety planning related to death of immediate family member.

Expands definition of "immediate family" for these absences to include persons determined by parent or guardian to be in close association with the pupil.

Changes religious retreat attendance limit from 4 hours per semester to 1 schoolday per semester.

Establishes reimbursement mechanism for local educational agencies if Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs.
