CA SB566

Authorizes the use of North American Terrestrial Reference Frame of 2022 (NATRF2022), Pacific Terrestrial Reference Frame of 2022 (PATRF2022), California Coordinate System of 2022 (CCS2022), and North American-Pacific Geopotential Datum of 2022 (NAPGD2022) for surveying and mapping in California.

Establishes that the official horizontal geodetic datums for California shall be NAD83, NATRF2022, or PATRF2022, and official orthometric height datums shall be NAVD88 or NAPGD2022.

Requires documents showing horizontal positions, ellipsoid heights, or orthometric heights to specify the geodetic datum, datum realization tag, and epoch date referenced.

Permits new surveys and mapping projects to use CCS2022 coordinates on or after January 1, 2025, while maintaining existing CCS83 requirements for projects before that date.

Makes use of NAD83, NATRF2022, PATRF2022, NAVD88, NAPGD2022, and the California Spatial Reference Network optional for all persons, firms, and governmental agencies.
