Hotels, third-party booking services, hosting platforms, and short-term rentals must allow reservations made 72+ hours before check-in to be canceled without penalty for at least 24 hours after confirmation.

Full refunds including all optional service fees must be issued to the original form of payment within 30 days of cancellation.

Civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation can be imposed by the Attorney General, district attorneys, city attorneys in cities over 750,000 population, county counsel, or city prosecutors.

Exemptions apply to negotiations rates not advertised to the general public, reservations confirmed before July 1, 2024, and bookings where the specific property is not disclosed until after confirmation.

Each day of non-compliance constitutes a separate violation.
