CA SB701

Authorizes the board of supervisors of any county to require registration and establish annual registration fees for fresh fruit and vegetable wholesalers, removing the previous restriction that only applied to counties with a population of 6,000,000 or more.

Increases the maximum allowable registration fee from $250 to $500 at the discretion of each county's board of supervisors.

Removes the requirement that fee schedules be designed to pay not more than one-third of county administration and enforcement costs for fruit, nut, and vegetable standards.

Requires that all registration fees collected be used only for enforcement of wholesale inspections of fruits and vegetables.

Exempts retail merchants, producers, brokers, and wholesalers handling only non-fruit and non-vegetable products from the registration fee requirement.
