Requires courts to notify individuals found incompetent to stand trial (misdemeanor charges) of their ongoing need for mental health services if charges are dismissed and they are not receiving court-directed services.

Courts must provide individuals with minimum information including the county behavioral health department name, address, and telephone number.

Courts must also provide individuals with the name and contact information of any behavioral health professional who provided services while incarcerated, Medi-Cal program contact information, and a list of available community-based mental health organizations.

Designates individuals found incompetent to stand trial with dismissed charges as a vulnerable population that should be a top priority for connection with behavioral health services upon release.

Effective October 13, 2023.
