Beginning July 1, 2026, superior courts must provide court users participating in ongoing court proceedings with reasonable break time to express breast milk for their infant child.

The Judicial Council must adopt or amend rules of court or forms by January 1, 2026 to implement this requirement, including a confidential process for requesting break time.

The provision does not affect or reduce existing employer obligations under California Labor Code sections 1030 and 1031 regarding lactation accommodations for court employees.
