Declares September 2024 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in California and encourages participation in awareness activities and events throughout the year.

Recognizes that cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children in California and that children experience long-term side effects from cancer treatments including heart or lung problems, learning disabilities, and increased risk of secondary cancers.

Acknowledges California's leadership in childhood cancer treatment with 18 Children's Oncology Group hospitals and 10 National Cancer Institute designated cancer centers, plus over $3 billion in stem cell research funding through the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

Expresses the Legislature's commitment to supporting efforts to find cures and less toxic treatments for childhood cancer and celebrates organizations like the American Childhood Cancer Organization working to raise awareness and support affected families.

Honors young Californians fighting cancer, those who have lost their lives to childhood cancer, and hospital staff providing care to patients and families affected by the disease.
