Senate Resolution 117 celebrates the East Bay Regional Park District's 90th anniversary as the nation's largest regional park district.

The district encompasses 73 regional parks spanning 126,000 acres, 55 miles of shoreline, and over 1,300 miles of trails across Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

The resolution recognizes the district's founding in 1934 when voters approved a ballot measure with 71 percent support during the Great Depression, with first land acquisitions on June 4, 1936.

The Senate commends the district for nine decades of environmental conservation, recreation opportunities, and community well-being services.

The Senate encourages East Bay communities to participate in anniversary celebrations and events throughout the year.
