Authorizes the Department of Justice to establish an automated notification system allowing petitioners and protected persons to access information about their protective order case, including whether the order was received by the department, whether it was served on the restrained person, and whether the restrained person attempted to purchase firearms or ammunition

Implementation is contingent on an appropriation by the Legislature; the department may contract with a vendor to build the system

Requires records showing whether superior courts fulfilled their mandatory duty to transmit protective orders to the Department of Justice to be open to public inspection and copying

Declares that department records showing receipt of protective order information are public records subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Act

Named "Wyland's Law" and adds Section 6380.5 to the Family Code; approved by Governor October 10, 2025
