Requires the California Department of Education to define and collect tribal affiliation data for all pupils who identify as American Indian or Alaska Native in the California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS), beginning with the 2027–28 school year

Mandates school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools to collect and report tribal affiliation whenever they gather race or ethnicity information for CALPADS reporting

Applies to students who identify as American Indian or Alaska Native alone or in combination with another race or ethnicity, addressing the problem of Native students being overlooked when they also select Hispanic or Latino

Requires the Department of Education to provide technical assistance to local educational agencies for implementation

Provides for state reimbursement to local agencies if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs
