Expands access to California Department of Justice firearms tracing data to local governments (towns, cities, counties), state agencies, University of California, California State University, and community colleges for academic and policy research purposes

Requires the Attorney General to provide this recovered firearms data in a format conducive to the requester's needs upon request from eligible entities

Applies to information on recovered firearms that were illegally possessed, used in a crime, or suspected of being used in a crime, which must be maintained by DOJ for at least 10 years

Introduced by Assembly Member Wicks on February 5, 2026, and amends Section 11108.3 of the Penal Code
