Removes the current 2-year probation limit for violent felonies (Section 667.5(c)), registerable sex offenses (Section 290), and serious felonies (Section 1192.7), allowing probation to extend up to the maximum possible prison sentence term

Allows extended probation beyond 2 years when the probation department petitions the court and the court finds the defendant has not successfully completed probation and needs additional time for programming

Maintains the existing 3-year probation limit for embezzlement and theft offenses where property value exceeds $25,000

Introduced by Assembly Member Davies on February 10, 2026, and amends Penal Code Section 1203.1

Requires state reimbursement to local agencies if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill creates state-mandated costs
