Requires the Surgeon General to identify and compile a list of age-appropriate mental health training programs for athletic coaches by July 1, 2027, with established minimum standards

Mandates that school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools with interscholastic athletic programs require newly hired athletic coaches to complete Surgeon General-approved pupil mental health training

Requires California State University, community college districts, and private postsecondary institutions receiving state financial assistance to have athletic coaches complete approved student mental health training; requests the University of California to do the same

Named "Sarah Shulze's Law" and introduced by Assembly Members Irwin and Pacheco on February 13, 2026

Provides for state reimbursement to local agencies and school districts if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs
