Requires the Office of the State Fire Marshal to convene a lithium battery working group to identify safety issues with lithium batteries and charging infrastructure in residential and commercial buildings not addressed in the 2025 California Building Standards Code

Working group must include representatives from fire districts, fire chiefs, firefighters, building standards commission, a university professor with lithium battery chemistry expertise, local building departments, property owners, and licensed electrical professionals

Group will recommend solutions including informational bulletins, best practices guidance, educational materials, and voluntary or mandatory building standards

Initial research, findings, and recommendations must be delivered by January 1, 2028

Appropriates an unspecified amount from the Building Standards Administration Special Revolving Fund to cover working group operations, research, guidance documents, training materials, and development of safety standards
