Expands methods for delivering written mediation notices in child custody and visitation cases to include in-person delivery by court staff, mail, express mail, overnight delivery, facsimile, and electronic service

Eliminates the previous requirement that notice be sent exclusively by certified mail with return receipt requested

Requires each court to develop a mediation notice that informs parties all communications with the mediator are confidential

Mandates the notice inform parties that in cases involving domestic violence history, allegations, findings, or active protective orders, the party alleging domestic violence may request separate meetings with the mediator at different times

Introduced March 16, 2026 by the Assembly Committee on Judiciary; requires majority vote and fiscal committee review
