Board members of county air pollution control districts and the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District are entitled to reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred while performing board duties

Upon adoption of a resolution, board members may receive compensation of up to $200 per day for attending meetings or conducting official business, with an annual cap of $7,200 per member

Compensation may be increased beyond initial limits by up to 5% per calendar year, or beginning January 1, 2026, up to 10% annually based on the California Consumer Price Index for the district's area

Board members cannot receive expense reimbursement or compensation if they already receive such payments from another entity for the same activities

Districts that elect to provide compensation must submit a report to the Legislature within 3 years assessing whether compensation changed board composition and improved member engagement
