Requires law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies to adopt policies by January 1, 2027 governing formal interviews of immediate family members of persons killed or seriously injured by peace officers

Peace officers and prosecutors must identify themselves, show credentials in person, inform the family member of their relative's status (killed or seriously injured), explain the interview's investigative purpose, and advise that the person may have a support person present

Prohibits officers and prosecutors from using threats, deception, false information, fabricated evidence, or misleading statements to coerce or conduct interviews covered by these requirements

Exemptions apply when delay would result in evidence loss, pose imminent public safety threats, or when the family member has already received equivalent advisements (including Miranda warnings)

"Immediate family member" includes spouse, parent, grandparent, sibling, child, or grandchild by blood, marriage, or adoption; "support person" requires no special qualifications but cannot be a witness, person of interest, or suspect in the incident
