Requires persons subject to protective orders (civil harassment, domestic violence, elder abuse, gun violence, workplace violence) to relinquish both firearms and ammunition within 24 hours of being served, with proof of surrender filed within 48 hours

Expands peace officer duties at domestic violence scenes or when enforcing restraining orders to take temporary custody of any ammunition found in plain sight or through lawful search, in addition to existing firearm requirements

Allows parties, support persons, and witnesses to appear remotely at no cost for hearings on postsecondary educational institution and workplace violence restraining orders, with courts required to develop local rules and post them on their websites

Authorizes courts to determine by preponderance of evidence whether a restrained person possesses firearms or ammunition in violation of an order, with violations reported to prosecutors within two business days

Provides that if the Commission on State Mandates determines the bill imposes state-mandated costs on local agencies, reimbursement shall be made pursuant to existing statutory procedures
