Adds "sex" as an explicitly protected characteristic against discrimination at postsecondary educational institutions receiving state financial assistance or enrolling students with state financial aid

Removes redundant language listing "gender, gender identity, gender expression" as separate protected categories

Expands protected characteristics by incorporating those defined in Government Code Section 12926(r), in addition to the existing reference to Section 11135

Maintains existing protections for disability, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, immigration status, and characteristics covered under hate crime statutes
